Amber B Dianda stop motion ANIMATION
Below is a collection of my handmade animations that were created for various brands, music videos, and personal experiments. Stop-motion animation is a big passion of mine, as there’s something so awesome how each piece of paper has to be meticulously cut out and placed to create a moving, living image.
THRASHER STOP MOTION ANIMATION
Here's an animation I created for Thrasher Magazine. It was made using individual hand-cut pieces of paper, and is now being used as a pre-roll for videos on Thrasher's site and channels. The first video to use it is the pro launch video for Kader Sylla!
STANCE ZODIAC COLLECTION STOP MOTION ANIMATION
This is an animation series created for Stance Socks to announce their Zodiac collection. Each piece of paper was painstakingly cutout by hand, and took over 3000 images to create the entire stop-motion animation. We then edited 12 individual short-film for each Zodiac sign that Stance used to rollout monthly, plus one full-length video with all of the animations in one (featured here). Edited by Kirk Dianda and soundtrack composed by Dana Dianda.
COUNTDOWN CLOCK
This countdown clock was created as an intro for my film and video projects. It’s an homage to the original stop-motion cartoons and short-films that inspired me as a child.
JAPANTHER "COME BACK HOME" MUSIC VIDEO
The official music video for the song "Come Back Home" by Japanther which was written as a homage to the late Beau Velasco. Every frame was drawn and cutout by hand. The video was launched exclusively through Vice Magazine and noisey.com along with a premiere screening at The Smell in Los Angeles. The animation cels where auctioned off to raise money for The Mental Illness Happy Hour podcast.
FUCK YOU CANCER
I created this animation after I found out I had cancer growing in my guts. Thankfully we caught it early, but the whole experience had left me feeling emotionally exhausted and betrayed by my body. The only way to turn everything around was to create something awesome to retaliate.
Fuck You Cancer!
THE STORY OF AMBERGRIS
Here is the story of Ambergris, a highly sort after stone found washed up on beaches around the world. It originates as the vomit of Blue Whales, and oxidizes into a precious ingredient used by perfumers. The bourgeoisie happily douche themselves in whale vomit to be more appealing! Pretty funny if you ask me.
SKINY BODY WEAR
Here’s a stop-motion animation I created for Austrian brand, SKINY. They came to me with a boilerplate script that explains the meaning behind their name and we came up with this little shorty.
The creative direction was Bette Midler’s “Over the shoulder boulder holder” from beaches which I love!!
PIE NOT
I created this for PIE-NOT, an Aussie Bakery in Newport Beach, CA to teach people how to eat a meat pie the Aussie way… No knives or forks needed.
HIGH TIDE COFFEE "GREEN MACHINE" ANIMATION
Looping animation for High Tide Coffee Co featuring their mascot van rolling through a sea of beans.
NARWHAL-1920x1080
Did you know that a Narwhal's horn is actually a tooth? I created this animation for all my fellow snaggletooth friends that were teased in school.
"EDEN" The Story of Element Eden
“Eden: The Story of Element Eden” is a short film that captures the story of Element’s women’s apparel brand. I co-directed the film with my handsome husband Kirk Dianda. We documented the products and personalities behind the brand. To string the story along, I created a set of handmade stop-motion animations that not only help tell the story of Eden, but also represent the brand’s creativity and fashion.
Día de Muertos
November 1st and 2nd celebrates, Día de Muertos! Remembering family and friends that have passed away, the tradition is as ancient as the Aztecs, and is celebrated all over the world. It’s nothing to be sad about. Build an alter to your dearly departed ones, honoring them with their favorite foods and drinks, and recall stories of their past lives in merriment.
Here is a stop-motion animation inspired by “Danse Macabre” that Kirk and I created in honor of Día de Muertos and Kirk’s Grandfather, Grandpa Louis Dianda.
Happy Halloween
Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, and to celebrate, I created this short film entitled "Happy Halloween." Each bone was hand cut from paper, and then moved and shot individually.
OPEN HOUSE CREATIVE
A short animation created for “Open House Creative” which is a creative hub and art school for all ages in the day, and exhibitions and parties at night.
SEASONS-1920x1080
Temporada is an exploration of the seasons. I grew up in Australia in the southern hemisphere and was inspired by the opposite nature of the seasons when i moved to the Northern hemisphere. This was also my first foray into 3-D animation.
WORMS
This used to be my favorite song to sing when I was a kid, so it was fun to use it for my first attempt at creating an animation.
YOU ARE INVITED!
